You cannot replace every tetchy bit of life but you can definitely replace a missing tooth and that’s what dental implants are for. Stable and effective as dental implants are, they are one of the most common and popular dental procedures at our dental implants clinic in Mumbai and are known to bear enduring results.

Dental implants are made of titanium and serve as artificial roots to support the false teeth. In other words, implants are the closest and coziest you can get to natural teeth.

  • A dental implant is an everlasting fix – Once the implant is embedded it can endure forever if you keep up your oral cleanliness and make timely dental appointments.
  • Zero damage to the neighboring teeth– Dental implants do not require the prior preparation of the neighboring teeth, unlike dental bridges. The neighboring teeth stay intact and retain their original shape.
  • No bone resorption – With the help of dental implants, bone decay can be prevented. Bone decay usually happens when a natural tooth is missing, causing a change in the overall appearance of the mouth.
  • Natural appearance – Dental implants can wholly replace the natural teeth, and therefore, the aesthetic value can be easily reestablished after losing a tooth.

How do implants work?

The implant treatment is conducted in 3 physical stages:
The Digital Planning Stage – The case is diagnosed and planned out. A digital clone of the patient’s mouth structure is prepared using 3D imagery, photographs, and video. The surgery is planned and prepared accordingly.
The Surgical Stage – As per the initial planning, the surgery is executed and the implants are restored in the bone.
Prosthetic Stage – The crowns for the implants are fixed in this stage.

“If you fail to plan—then you plan to fail”—Benjamin Franklin

One of the most important stages in Implant treatment is the PLANNING of the entire treatment outcome before beginning the treatment.

Digital Implantology involves the usage of 3D imaging of the patient’s jaw. The images are then imported on a proprietary implant software to virtually pinpoint the correct location of future artificial teeth and then a decision is made on the ideal positioning of the dental Implants placement in the jaw.

This virtual plan is then used to make Drilling and Positioning Guides for the Implants during surgery, which ensures our patients have a safer, quicker and comfortable dental experience.

The precision, accuracy, and speed of the digital implant technology bring about extraordinary results.

American Dental Practices dental treatment workflow

Dental Implants procedures can be done in two ways:

One Stage Procedure:

In this procedure, a connector is placed over the implants at the time of the surgery. Following a 2 to 4 month healing period during which the implant fuses to the bone, a life-like tooth is then placed on the implant thus restoring the immediate appearance of a healthy and normal tooth. The one stage dental implant systems are generally used when the bone quality is good, hence guaranteeing good initial implant stability.

Two-stage procedure:

The two-stage procedure is an approach where the connector is is not placed on the implants at the time of surgery. It is generally employed when the bone quality and quantity is very poor. This procedure is used to replace those teeth where there is no immediate requirement for a cosmetic solution or when more of a margin of safety is required. Through this approach, the implants are placed into your jawbone and the gum tissues cover them. They remain unexposed to the mouth, but stay buried and are left to heal. Once healed, a second surgery is then performed to attach a connector to secure the teeth in proper place.

  •  For single missing teeth:

Single dental implants have a crown on top of it. They appear to be similar to natural teeth because they are single implants that replace only those particular teeth that have lost.

  •  For multiple missing teeth:

If multiple teeth in the upper or lower jaw are missing, a dental bridge supported by dental implants is recommended for long term stability and use.

  •  For complete loss of teeth:

All-on-4 Dental Implants

This solution is for patients who may have less available jawbone. Four implants per jaw provide enough stability to support a fixed dental bridge for a lifetime.

All-on-6 Dental Implants

This solution uses six dental implants for each jaw. It is used on patients who do not have perfect jawbones but have sufficient bone to support six implants. This provides an excellent anchor for teeth fixed on top of the implants.

All-on-8 Dental Implants

This solution uses eight dental implants per jaw and it the most recommended and stable option for dental implants. It involves the greatest number of dental implants, has the strongest grip on the jaw and has enough bone to sustain eight implants.

  • For Compromised bone quality and quantity:

Basal dental implantology

This technique used an advanced implantology system which utilizes the basal – cortical portion of the jaw bones for retention of the dental implants.

In patients with deficient bone in the jaw, where a conventional implant might not work, or may require advanced surgeries for increasing the volume of the bone, basal implants work the best without the need of extensive advanced surgeries.

I am afraid of pain and surgery in general.

Implant surgeries at ADP are performed by skilled and experienced implantologists under local anesthesia making it a painless and safe procedure.

The surgery is performed by skilled and experienced implantologists under local anesthesia. Your implants will be painlessly conducted by our expert specialists.

What are the indications and causes of dental implants?

Dental implants are indicated when one or more teeth are missing. The causes of missing teeth are generally related to systemic diseases (uncontrolled diabetes, osteoporosis etc.) and smoking.

What if I don’t have sufficient bone support for an implant?

During the digital stage, a CBCT (cone beam computed tomography) is crafted which will show the surgeon the precise amount of bone available. This will help us to measure the size of the implant and plan it further, or prepare for other grafting procedures.

I would like to get this treatment, but I don’t live in Mumbai. Do you provide any facilities for foreign patients?

American Dental Practices is one of the leading centers for dental tourism. We try to be the ambassadors, promoting a superior quality/cost ratio on our services.  We provide logistic assistance right from traveling to accommodation till the time your treatment gets done.

What types of implant do you use at ADP?

The most common brands we use for implants are Nobel Biocare, Bio horizon, Osstem.

There are thousands of implant brands in the market and the new innovations and versions come out very often. The way we select the brands we work with is based on the following set of criteria:

How long do implant systems last?

We believe in implants that have been proven to be successful over the time, like 5-10 years or more.

Do your systems have superior quality and logistics?

This is a very important criterion, as every detail and every flaw matters. The company’s philosophy has a lot to do with the quality of its products. Hence, we provide optimum quality equipments and services.

How much does the implants procedure cost?

It is not relevant if an implant system is cheaper or more expensive, what matters is that the price-benefit ratio is correct. We want our patients to buy value and not brands, and that is exactly the reason why you’ll find both the famous brands and the new ones in our portfolio.

What is the best dental implant system that you’ll have?

There is no such thing as the universal best implant system. There is, however, the perfect system for every case and this is why we spend the right amount of time and effort to plan the best solution and implant type for each patient individually.

I already had the implant surgery done somewhere else. Is it possible to restore the implants at American Dental Practices?

Yes, we need to know the brand and sizes of the implants placed. You can get this information from your surgeon.
